Goodbye Dull Hair! How To Give Your Hair That Model Shine

Goodbye Dull Hair! How To Give Your Hair That Model Shine

December 09, 2019

Do you want gorgeous and glossy locks that shine and stand out wherever you go? Well, we know that nobody really wants dull dry hair or rough, damaged hair. The fact is that keep your hair beautiful and shiny is incredibly difficult these days. Everything from the hair styling products and heat tools we rely on every day to the pollution in the air around us can affect our hair, hurt its health, and damage its shine.

Healthy hair is shiny hair, it’s important to remember that. Here at SOS Haircare we’re all about being able to deliver to our customers a solution for having the healthiest hair possible. We understand that your daily routine is time-consuming and frustrating more often than not, and it can incredibly difficult to maintain. That’s why we’re always looking for ways to keep our hair healthy and strong in as cost-effective and efficient a way as possible.

The natural texture and colour of our hair can also have an impact on how our hair looks and how shiny it appears. There’s a lot to consider and it can be quite a complicated matter. But if you want your hair to glisten with light, there are some things we think you can do to help achieve that. Let’s take a look!

  • Wash your hair less often - and when you do, wash it properly

  • You probably hear this all the time, but it’s a point that is worth repeating and it’s a rule you should abide by for shinier hair. To get truly glossy locks, stop shampooing your hair on a daily basis. It’s something that has been said by expert hair professionals and stylists, but it’s something that a lot of us ignore. It’s said that the optimum routine for improving shine is to give your hair a proper wash around two to three times a week.

The second part of this point is to make sure that you’re using a shampoo and washing your hair in the right way for you. Everyone has different hair and a different scalp - there’s no ‘one size fits all’ solution, unfortunately. Experts often recommend shampooing your hair twice each wash as well. When you wash, the first time will cleanse your scalp and hair of excess oils and build-up, while the second wash acts like more of a treatment. While doing this, try to give your scalp a gentle massage to stimulate your scalp’s blood flow. This encourages new blood cells, which in turn will help to keep your hair’s roots healthy, strong, and shiny!

  • Get some more Omega 3 in your system!

  • As we said above, healthy hair is shiny hair! The best and quickest way to a glossier hair that shines brightly is to maintain excellent hair health. Here at SOS Haircare, this is where our passion lies and is the reason that we designed and made the Hair Vitamin Drink for our customers. Another excellent way of ensuring healthy hair, of course, is to make sure that you’ve got a lot of Omega 3 in your diet.

There are many minerals and nutrients that are proven to improve the health of your hair. Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids certainly aren’t to be ignored! Your body needs these for a range of different reasons, including keeping healthy hair. Where can you find these? Well, stocking your fridge and cabinets with fish such as mackerel and sardines, eggs, avocado, seeds, and nuts is going to help you on your way! Of course, there are also fish oil capsules available if you’re not someone who likes seafood.

  • Brush daily

  • Making sure that you brush your hair every single day is actually a fantastic way of helping to improve your gloss and achieve the shiniest hair possible. Now, this doesn’t mean that you have to obsessively brush every single strand of hair on your head every single day! Ordinary brushing is fine because the very act of brushing pulls the natural oils from your scalp across and through your hair. This basically acts as a natural moisturizer, allowing you to not only benefit from gorgeous natural hair, but sleek and shiny hair too!

Brushes with natural bristles or boar bristles are the best for this. That’s because these are gentler and won’t damage your hair or scalp as much with continuous brushing. Metal or synthetic brushes will definitely have an impact if you’re trying to use them to brush every single day, so it’s good to steer clear. But also, boar bristle brushes are still stiff enough to effectively draw out your natural oils, giving your hair a wonderful boost to its shine and gloss!

  • Start rinsing your hair with cold water

  • You may or may not have heard this one before. There’s some debate as to how effective it really is, but there’s one thing that is certain - cold water helps to constrict the pores on your skin. This works on your scalp as well. This is great for your pores and for the skin on your scalp. The healthier your scalp and the roots of your hair are, the better it is for the shine and gloss of your hair.

There’s a lot of evidence that rinsing your hair with cold water also seals and helps to smooth the hair cuticle. This helps your hair to retain its moisture, adding to its overall shine and appearance! What’s the best approach? Well, we think that it’s a pretty simple thing to add to your daily hair routine. All you need to do is wash, shampoo and condition your hair, and when all that’s done give it a good thorough rinse with cold water.
